Sunday Plenary Session

Cathy Humphreys

Join us as Cathy takes us into different

classrooms to observe and discuss student learning!

Cathy is involved in research focusing on

figuring out how to help teachers enact

discourse practices that support students’ development of mathematical practices. Her interest in teaching mathematics for

understanding has led to collaboration on two books: A Collection of Math Lessons for Grades 6-8 with Marilyn Burns and Connecting Mathematical Ideas with Jo Boaler.

Monday Luncheon Speaker

Kevin Baird

Join this dynamic national speaker as he

challenges us with how The National Research Council's report on Mathematical Sciences in

2025 puts forth a compelling vision and

significant challenge for America's schools as

we work to prepare students for future jobs.

With specific and pragmatic recommendations

for immediate classroom and school level implementation, he will move us from future vision and theory to concrete attainable action steps.. for right now!

Kevin Baird, Chairman at the Center for

College and Career Readiness, brings together Common Core, the National Math Report,

Global Economic Trends and the latest

National Research Council findings into one coherent picture and call to action.
