Welcome to the Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics

Our Mission: The Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics is a public voice of mathematics education in the State of Indiana. ICTM provides vision, leadership and professional development to support teachers in ensuring mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students. ICTM is dedicated to promote excellence in school mathematics curriculum, instruction, and assessment and to provide services and opportunities for professional growth and development of teachers of mathematics and future teachers of mathematics.

The Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) is a statewide organization concerned with and working for the interests of mathematics educators and mathematics education. The membership, including the ICTM Board of Directors, includes teachers from all levels and from all parts of the state. The activities of the council are many and varied, as are the benefits to be derived from membership and participation.

2017 Fall Conference Keynote Speaker

Zachary Herrmann

Zachary Herrmann is a graduate of the Doctor of Education Leadership program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Zachary develops and leads professional learning focused on teacher and leadership development, innovation, and creative problem solving. Zachary earned his teaching degree at Stanford University and taught high school mathematics for several years. During that time, Zachary developed a collaborative professional development network of schools dedicated to improving teaching and learning with a focus on complex tasks, collaborative learning, and equity.


2017 Fall Conference Keynote Speaker

Luke Walsh

Luke Walsh grew up in Berne, Indiana and graduated from Indiana University.  In 2000 he began teaching 8th grade mathematics in the foothills of North Carolina.  After five years in the public education system, he took a break to hike the entire Appalachian Trail. In 2007 Luke earned a masters in mathematics from Appalachian State University, and since then he has been a full-time mathematics instructor at Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC).  Finally, Luke is the current NCMATYC president, loves to collaborate with other teachers, to eat BBQ and drink craft beer, to create graphs on Desmos, to spend time outdoors, and to go on family road trips.
